Fed: New task force to target ethnic hot-spots
SYDNEY, April 20 AAP - State and federal ministers have agreed to set up a nationaltask force to spot violent flash points in ethnic communities around Australia.
The ministers agreed in Darwin yesterday to a national approach to fighting externalthreats to community harmony, The Sunday Telegraph reported today.
The new task force would spot threats and resolve them quickly through a pooling ofpolice, multicultural affairs and intelligence resources.
The task force was a response to post-September 11 ethnic violence and the Middle Eastconflict, federal Multicultural Affairs Minister Gary Hargrave told the newspaper.
Sydney would be a focus for the task force's work because of its ethnic gangs.
